Press Break/Slitter Operator

Press Brake Operator/Slitter duties include setting up and operating hydraulic or mechanical press brake to form hot rolled, galvanized, and painted coil stack or sheared strips to specific job instructions and blueprints. Requires meticulous measuring and aligning metal sheets/strips to ensure accurate bends and angles to produce intricate trim form parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carries out responsibilities with safety and efficiency as a priority. Prioritizes the well-being of colleagues and actively contributes to the safety program by collaborating, sharing ideas, and voicing concerns. Adheres to training guidelines, policies, and procedures while maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Proactively identifies and addresses potential hazards.
• Responsible for press brake set-up, layout of parts, part inspection, and forming of steel building components.
• Capable of interpreting all company fabrication drawings pertaining to the assigned work area and converting drawing specification on machine controls.
• Fully knowledgeable of the capacities, proper operation, tooling, and routine maintenance of assigned machines.
• Use proper measuring and checking equipment such as tape measures, micrometers, calipers, protractors, etc.
• At times may operate all workstations involved in the press brake line, including slitting operations, and packaging of parts, as required.
• Responsible for the overall quality and quantity of production output.
• Properly complete all routine paperwork related to job responsibilities and input accurate production into IFS software.
• Provides leadership by training team members, setting the work pace, and guiding assigned employees.
• Operates forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment to safely and efficiently transport materials as required.
• Capable of working independently or as a team with minimum supervision.

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for creating a collaborative, safe and hazard free environment that is driven by employee involvement. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to leading departmental continuous improvement projects, supporting and executing all safety and health policies and programs, employee training and incident investigations.
