Position Overview
Chief Safety Solutions is hiring a highly organized and experienced Janitorial Supervisor to oversee custodial operations at the Garner Outpatient Clinic, a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare facility. The Supervisor will ensure consistent delivery of services in compliance with VA environmental protocols, OSHA regulations, and Joint Commission standards.
Hourly Pay: $17.00 – $18.00 (commensurate with experience)
Full-Time | Monday–Friday Must be available to coordinate and oversee both 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) and 2nd Shift (3:30 PM – 11:00 PM)
Key Responsibilities
- Manage janitorial team schedules for both shifts; ensure full daily coverage
- Supervise cleaning staff and inspect daily work performance across assigned zones
- Ensure compliance with all tasks and frequencies detailed in the contract’s Performance Work Statement (PWS)
- Lead staff training on aseptic cleaning, infection control, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910 requirements
- Conduct quality assurance inspections and prepare reports for the COR (Contracting Officer Representative)
- Maintain proper inventory and ordering of cleaning supplies and PPE
- Ensure compliance with uniform and ID badge requirements for all staff
- Respond promptly to emergencies and corrective action requests
- Enforce adherence to VA privacy, HIPAA, and behavioral conduct policies
- Review and implement safety procedures, signage, and MSDS documentation
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship (Required for access to VA healthcare facilities)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 3-year supervisory experience in a healthcare or commercial janitorial setting
- Fluent in English (speak, read, write)
- Strong leadership, organization, and conflict-resolution skills
- Proficient with documentation, task scheduling, and team communication
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., work standing or walking for extended periods, and respond quickly to facility needs
- Must pass federal background screening and complete required VA onboarding
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Executive Housekeeper (CEH) or relevant janitorial management certification
- NEHA or IHEA Certification
- Experience working in a Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal facility
- Experience working in a VA medical facility or federal government building
- Familiarity with Joint Commission standards and VA Environmental Management Services (EMS) procedures
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
