Position Summary
The Athletic Worker provides essential event support for Chief Leschi Schools’ athletic programs on an on-call, seasonal basis. This role supports individual sports across the fall, winter, and spring seasons, depending on the needs of each athletic program. Duties may include gate entry, scorekeeping, and acting as a linesperson or sideline official. The Athletic Worker plays a key role in ensuring safe, organized, and professional athletic events..
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform gate entry duties including checking credentials, selling and collecting tickets, and maintaining accurate counts.
- Serve as scorekeeper or timekeeper for games, accurately tracking game progress per sport-specific regulations.
- Act as linesperson or sideline official for sports following all athletic program protocols and safety standards.
- Set up and break down game-day materials and equipment as directed.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with coaches, athletes, referees, and spectators.
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and a student-centered mindset while working in public event settings.
- Follow school procedures for reporting incidents or injuries.
- Adhere to all school, district, WIAA, and Tribal Compact policies and codes of conduct.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a current Chief Leschi Schools employee in good standing.
- Availability for flexible, on-call scheduling including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to remain professional and calm under pressure.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
Working Conditions
- Duties are performed in indoor and outdoor athletic settings in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform light physical labor (lifting up to 50 lbs.).
- Work hours are event-based and may vary week to week.
Reports To: Athletic Director or Designee
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position. Workplace accommodations may be provided in accordance with CLS Tribal policy.
- Employees may be required to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks involving reaching, talking, hearing, bending, stooping, twisting, squatting, kneeling, and fine motor coordination.
- This position may require regularly lifting or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds, with appropriate assistance or equipment as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is primarily performed in an indoor educational environment with moderate noise levels. Employees may work in and/or proximity to classrooms, students, and standard office or instructional equipment. Conditions may vary based on program needs.
