Summary:
The Electric Station Equipment Repairman is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical distribution and transmission equipment. The position supports reliable power delivery by performing technical work on substation equipment, distribution systems, and associated control and protection devices.
Job Responsibilities:
· Under the direction of the Electric Station Foreman, install, maintain, repair, test, and adjust electrical equipment used in the distribution of electric power under the direction of the Electric Station Foreman.
· Install and wire switchgear, controls, relays, transformers, circuit breakers, and charging equipment.
· Diagnose and clear short circuits; perform electrical testing on substation and distribution equipment, cables, and related systems.
· Tag and switch distribution and transmission equipment in accordance with established safety and operating procedures.
· Conduct property and facility maintenance, including wireless fire alarm system upkeep, minor radio system maintenance, and R.F.I. (Radio Frequency Interference) investigations.
· Perform periodic inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs on station and distribution equipment.
· Serve as Electric Station Operator Attendant on assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
· Carry out other related duties as assigned to support safe and efficient electric system operations.
Education & Experience
· 3–5 years of practical experience in electric station or substation maintenance; or
· Associate degree in Electrical Technology or a related field (preferred).
Licenses & Certifications
· Valid Class D Driver’s License.
· Hoisting Licenses: 1B, 2A, 3A.
· Ability to obtain a Protective Switching and Tagging Procedure Certification from CONVEX within 12 months of hire.
Additional Requirements
· Must obtain and maintain security clearance for all CEL service areas.
· Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position, including climbing, lifting, and working in adverse weather conditions.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a safety‑critical environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $51.81 per hour
