We’re seeking a caring and flexible Float Teacher to join our nurturing team at Chickadee. As a float, you’ll support all of our classrooms, from toddlers to preschoolers, building strong connections with children. You’ll be part of a close-knit team that values creativity, growth, and compassion. About the Role
At Chickadee, we teach through hands-on exploration and joyful play. As a float teacher, you’ll support various classrooms and age groups throughout the day. You’ll help create a calm, safe, and loving environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and physically.

What We’re Looking For
- You love working with young children and understand each child’s unique needs.
- You’re kind, patient, and playful - ready to sing songs, read stories, and truly enjoy your day.
- You’re a team player who communicates openly and helps create a safe, caring space.
- You’re able to lift up to 30 pounds and get down to the children’s level throughout the day.
- You’re CPR & First Aid Certified, or willing to become certified.
Education & Experience
We welcome a range of backgrounds! Any of the following is helpful:
- BA/BS in Early Childhood Education (preferred but not required)
- AA/AS in Early Childhood or related field
- Child Development Associate (CDA)
Daily Responsibilities
- Follow the direction of the lead teachers throughout the classrooms.
- Implement planned activities
- Play, sing, and read with children
- Support diapering, meals, and nap routines
- Keep daily notes on diapering, feeding, and sleep
- Help keep classrooms tidy and organized
- Communicate openly with families
- Most importantly - enjoy your time with the children!
