Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier/Customer Service Associate to join our retail team. This role is vital in providing exceptional service to customers, managing transactions accurately, and maintaining a welcoming shopping environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be comfortable handling cash and POS systems, and have a passion for delivering excellent customer experiences. Bilingual abilities and supervisory experience are a plus, but not required.
Duties
- Operate POS systems efficiently to process sales and returns
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their inquiries
- Handle cash, credit, and digital payments accurately and securely
- Upsell products and promote store promotions to enhance sales
- Conduct product demos when applicable to inform customers about features and benefits
- Maintain merchandising standards by stocking shelves and organizing displays
- Assist with inventory management, including stock replenishment and merchandising
- Ensure the sales area is clean, organized, and inviting
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing questions or concerns promptly
- Support supervising staff in daily operations as needed
- Follow phone etiquette standards when communicating with customers over the phone
Experience
- Previous retail sales or cashiering experience preferred but not required
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures
- Strong communication skills, including bilingual abilities (English/Spanish or others) preferred
- Experience with product demos, upselling, merchandising, and stock management is a plus
- Basic math skills for retail math calculations such as change-making and discounts
- Supervising experience is advantageous but not mandatory
- Knowledge of grocery store operations or retail environment is beneficial
