Responsibilities
As a Kitchen Shift Leader, you will oversee the kitchen team and ensure our food is prepared with excellence, efficiency, and safety. You are accountable for the back-of-house team’s performance during your shift, including food safety standards, quality assurance, speed of service, and overall kitchen operations.
Key Operational Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team during assigned shifts in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant.
- Assist in training of new hires, set the tone for a shift, and act as a role model for our team.
- Ability to both open & close the restaurant, lead shifts, key holder.
- Ensure that Team Members follow recipes and prepare all orders accurately.
- Ensure all food safety procedures are strictly followed, including proper holding, cooking, and storage temperatures.
- Maintain food quality standards by ensuring recipes, weights, and measurements are followed precisely.
- Manage daily truck deliveries, receiving, and inventory processes to minimize waste and maintain accurate stock levels.
- Assist with scheduling and labor management to balance productivity and labor costs.
- Train, coach, and develop team members in kitchen roles, setting the tone for a high-performing back-of-house culture.
- Ensure all kitchen workstations and equipment are kept clean, sanitized, and organized throughout shifts.
- Support the overall restaurant operation by partnering with front-of-house leaders when needed.
- Model professionalism, urgency, and care while maintaining a positive and respectful team environment.
Leadership Development Program
We know restaurant leadership is a steep growth curve so we’ve created a Leadership Development Program to prepare you for long-term success:
Phase 1: (2-4 months):
- Learn our culture and core business practices.
- Rotate through every kitchen role to master essential competencies.
- Build relationships and trust with your team.
Phase 2 (5–8 weeks):
- Train directly in Shift Leadership and Kitchen Management.
- Shadow current leaders and practice leading under guidance.
- Lead independently to demonstrate readiness.
Upon completing Phase 2, you will officially become a Kitchen Shift Leader at Chick-fil-A Bucktown!
Salary : $19 - $23
