What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director position at Chick-fil-A?
Responsibilities:
- “Director on Duty” from 6:30 am - 10:00 pm, there will always be a Director on and scheduled to oversee the entirety of the FOH and BOH Operations. Supervisors and managers will still be running their shifts, but this Director will be floating, auditing, coaching, helping fix bottlenecks, and whatever else is needed to ensure our guests are getting the best possible service. During this time, the primary responsibility of the Director is the store and the guest, not their personal area of ownership.
- Ownership over key areas of the business. These are not set in stone yet because it would depend on the leader but it could be a role like overseeing the entirety of the FOH operations, or overseeing the entirety of the training program. You will be expected to own, improve, and grow your area of the business over time; however, day to day, you will ensure that the operations and the guests are always the greatest priority.
Expectation: “You view and act like this is your business.”
- You have open availability and work when and where the business needs.
- You can run successful FOH and BOH shifts, and coach others to do the same. This is vital as we transition to having a "Director on Duty."
- When you are in the store, whether you are scheduled in ops or not, the operations should be flowing smoothly, and you should be floating and checking on things whenever possible to ensure we are protecting the guest experience, since this is the biggest priority in the business. This is the case even if there is someone else scheduled as the “Director on Duty.”
- You take the initiative to hold team members and leaders accountable for all store procedures and policies, and this does not just mean coaching conversations, but written discipline as well. You understand that not holding someone accountable is not showing care to them, the rest of the team, or the business.
- You take the initiative to solve problems that arise in the store, even if it doesn't specifically fall in your area. We don't live with problems, we solve them.
- You are faithful at holding the team and yourself accountable to being productive so we are being good stewards of our Labor.
- You grow and develop the next generation of Leaders below you.
- You are intentional about your own personal growth as a leader.
- You communicate in a timely manner with the team and other leaders, and this includes digital communication like on Basecamp.
- You are professional in appearance, communication, and demeanor.
- You lead by example with our Vision, Mission, Values, and Team Norms.
- You get results.
