HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
Your work supports the goals of the HUD Continuum of Care Rapid Rehousing Program operated by HELP New Mexico. You will provide client-centered, trauma-informed case management and housing stabilization services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Española, New Mexico.
You will assist participants in obtaining and maintaining permanent housing through individualized case management, rental assistance coordination, and linkage to community supports. Using a Housing First approach, you'll collaborate with clients to reduce barriers, develop Housing Stabilization Plans, and connect them to long-term supports that promote independence and self-sufficiency. You will also get to travel into the community to meet clients or community partners in your effort to secure resources.
WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT HUD CASE MANAGER?
- You have the knowledge! You know HUD Continuum of Care Rapid Rehousing program requirements, including progressive engagement, short- to medium-term assistance, and landlord engagement.
- You practice client-centered case management: You engage clients through empowerment, strengths-based goal setting, and client-driven plans.
- Housing navigation is your passion. You know where to locate and secure safe, affordable housing through landlord outreach, negotiation, and housing application support.
- You understand benefits & resources: SNAP, TANF, SSI/SSDI, Medicaid, employment, education, transportation, and behavioral health supports.
- You're a problem solver with crisis prevention skills. You are confident in de-escalation, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused approaches to housing crises and eviction prevention.
- You are trauma-informed and culturally aware. You build trust and safety, especially among Hispanic and rural populations, while promoting equity, inclusivity, and self-determination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in case management, housing programs, or social services.
- Knowledge of HUD Rapid Rehousing or CoC programs preferred.
- Experience with trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention.
- Familiarity with HMIS and data reporting systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Valid driver’s license in good standing and proof of insurance.
