We are a non-profit charter holder for three charter high schools in Arizona. Avance is Chicanos Por La Causa’s (CPLC) new Community High School. HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?

• You will provide quality instruction pertinent to the applicable area, as well as provide extensive knowledge of cooperative learning strategies, differentiation, and small group instruction.
• You should have knowledge of developing formative and summative assessments to inform instruction, have the ability to incorporate research-proven teaching strategies into daily lesson delivery, and be familiar with the AZ State Standards and ACT Standards.
• You will work with diverse populations.
• You will maintain a strong classroom presence and develop daily, and unit lesson plans that are thoughtful, goal-oriented, and aligned with the curriculum.
• You will master the necessary content knowledge and skills to successfully teach assigned content area(s) and grade level(s)

• You are able to maintain a positive attitude and build positive and appropriate relationships with students
• You are excellent at communicating with students, parents and staff
• You are collaborative and can work with colleagues to create and implement interdisciplinary standard-base project learning
• You are interested in growth as a professional educator and excited about participating in ongoing professional development and learning
• You are organized and detail oriented to be able to maintain accurate student records including progress reports and report cards.

SPECIALIZATIONS

• Deep understanding of inquiry-based instruction
• Experience teaching upper-level math and science preferred
• AVID experience or certification, preferred

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education /Background:

• Bachelor or Masters degree in education or content area required
• Arizona Teaching certification required
• Comprehensive knowledge of the AZ Standards
• Must possess a valid Class 1 or Class 2 Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety
• Willingness to collaborate with colleagues in planning for academic improvement in academic areas other than your own, as needed
• Willingness to teach multiple grades and subject levels
• Willingness to differentiate instruction
• Willingness to oversee/ advise extracurricular activities (student clubs, intramural sports, music instruction, etc.)
• Willingness to work with students before or after school to support their academic growth
• Experience utilizing community experts and community resources to enhance content instruction preferred
• Experience building student and parent relationships to improve student achievement
• Experience working with an underserved student population
