The WNBA Chicago Sky is a professional basketball team, which is part of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), the longest running female professional sports league in the world. It started its first season in 2006, the Chicago Sky became the first independently owned WNBA team in the country. The team’s Principal Owner, Michael Alter, is a Chicago native and President of the Alter Group, one of the country’s largest private commercial real estate development companies. The mission of the Chicago Sky is to enrich the lives of the Chicagoland community by providing competitive, world-class basketball combined with a drive to inspire people to believe in redefining what is possible.
About the internship!
The program is committed to curating introductory opportunities and exposure to the sports and entertainment business within a WNBA front office by engaging in hands-on opportunities within specialized departments. Interns will develop sports business acumen, gain exposure within a WNBA franchise, grow their professional network, and meaningfully contribute to the organization and brand's growth.
Our offices are located at McCormick Place, 230 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL and our games are played at the Wintrust Arena located at 200 E Cermak Rd., Chicago, IL 60616. You can drive (park for free), take the bus, or take the train to both locations. You are responsible for transportation to and from work.

Education & Experience
Qualifications for the Chicago Sky Foundation Intern
- Current college student, recent graduate, or early-career professional
- Interest in sports, nonprofit work, community engagement, marketing, or events
- Prior experience in events, or community outreach is a plus
- Support planning and execution of community programs and events
- Assist with foundation fundraising initiatives and campaigns
- Represent the Chicago Sky as a brand ambassador at community activations
- Contribute to social media content and storytelling across platforms
- Provide general administrative and operational support
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Comfortable working both independently and within a team
- Detail-oriented with strong time management
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to craft emails, social media posts, and community impact reports
- Comfortable working independently and collaborating with a team to execute projects
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Passion for serving the community and supporting nonprofit initiatives through the Chicago Sky Foundation
- Willingness to engage with fans, community partners, and event attendees as a brand ambassador
- Ability to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed for games and community events
- Self-motivated and eager to learn about the sports and nonprofit industries
