Qualifications & Experience
Credentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Bilingual Ed, ESL, or related field required (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid Illinois PEL with Bilingual and/or ESL endorsement required (Administrative endorsement preferred)
Background & Expertise in Bilingual Education:
Understanding of Bilingual Education policy, and experience in teaching bilingual education,, instructional leadership, or school administration (prior leadership preferred)
Data-Driven & Collaborative: Proven ability to utilize data for instructional improvement and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders to build organizational capacity
Commitment to Equity: Personal and professional commitment to educational equity for English Learners
Transportation: Access to reliable transportation for district-wide travel
Key Responsibilities
Direct School Support:
Partner with networks, school leaders and EL Program Teachers (ELPTs) to provide data-informed guidance, programmatic support, and resources for English learners across CPS.
Program Implementation & Accountability:
Guide schools in understanding bilingual programs aligned with district policies and conduct EL Program reviews to ensure accountability with state and federal law.
Professional Learning:
Develop, lead, and facilitate professional learning opportunities for ELPTs and school leaders.
Collaboration: Foster cross-functional collaboration within OMME and throughout CPS to ensure program alignment and deliver cohesive support.
