The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is seeking a Budget Analyst or Senior Budget Analyst to support the agency’s financial operations with a focus on budget development, forecasting, and reporting within the D365 financial system. CMAP is a mission-driven agency serving the 284 municipalities and 7 counties of northeastern Illinois as the region’s comprehensive planning organization. As the region’s Metropolitan Planning Organization, CMAP manages a diverse portfolio of projects supported by multiple funding sources and stakeholders. The successful candidate will provide critical support in building budgets and forecasts, managing work breakdown structures, developing financial reports and dashboards, and ensuring compliance with funder requirements such as those from IDOT. This position will be foundational as CMAP fully transitions to D365 as our financial system. 

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in financial systems, data analysis, and cross-functional coordination, particularly within public sector or grant-funded environments. Familiarity with D365, Power BI, and project-based financial management is strongly preferred. This person will be responsible for translating complex budget data into agency-wide reports and dashboards that will be used by project managers and executives. CMAP is looking for a detail-oriented, collaborative team member who is comfortable working across departments, including Accounting and Procurement, and who brings a proactive approach to continuous process improvement and data integrity. 

Education and Experience 

Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, public policy or related field, master's degree preferred. 

Minimum Requirements for Analyst: Minimum of 2 years directly related or comparable experience of similar scope in budgeting and/or financial planning and analysis. 

Minimum Requirements for Senior Analyst: Minimum of 5 years directly related or comparable experience of similar scope in budgeting and/or financial planning and analysis. 

Hiring Range for Analyst: $69, 769.35-$85,467.39 

Hiring Range for Senior Analyst: $77,087.78-$98,286.78 

Salary : $69,769 - $98,287
