We prepare our students to become thoughtful learners, ethical individuals, and engaged members of the Jewish communityand our work is made possible through strong partnerships with families, donors, alumni, and community supporters.Position OverviewWe are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Middle School Math Teacher who believes deeply in a growth mindset and fosters a positive, structured learning environment where all students can thrive. The ideal candidate understands the unique academic, social, and behavioral characteristics of middle school learners and brings enthusiasm, energy, and passion to the daily work of teaching. This educator demonstrates strong instructional expertise and effective classroom management, skillfully meeting the needs of a diverse range of students through targeted support, enrichment opportunities, and differentiated instruction. A strong commitment to community is essential, including active collaboration with colleagues, meaningful participation in school events, and partnership within an interdisciplinary middle school team.Responsibilities include planning and teaching Grade 6 and Grade 7 Math, working closely with team members to support student success, and leading an advisory group with thoughtfully curated activities designed to support student growth throughout the school year.QualificationsRequiredBachelors degreeClear, professional written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyCommitment to confidentiality and professional standardsPreferredMinimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level.Experience implementing the Connected Math Program (CMP) or similar inquiry-based mathematics curricula is highly valued.Candidates should hold appropriate certification in Secondary or Elementary Mathematics and demonstrate a strong foundation in mathematics content knowledge and instructional best practices.Benefits & CompensationCJDS offers a competitive compensation package, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees (30 hours/week), including:100% employer-paid health and short-term disability insurancePaid time off in accordance with Chicago ordinances, plus Jewish and Federal holidaysTuition remission for eligible children after two years of serviceOptional dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
