Information Desk Specialist

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Information Desk Specialist, you will help patients, visitors, and staff navigate the medical facility so they can receive timely, accurate assistance and a seamless experience. Every day you will act as the primary point of contact at the Patient Services Desk, managing communications and facility navigation. You will be expected to facilitate check-ins, resolve inquiries, and coordinate logistics under the guidance of the Safety and Emergency Manager. To be successful in this role, you must possess exceptional interpersonal skills, the ability to remain calm in emergency situations, and a strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and privacy regulations.

• Clinical & Safety Compliance: Successfully completed all job-specific and age-specific competencies required to ensure safe and effective patient interactions
• Front-Line Reception & Navigation: Served as the primary point of contact for the facility, providing warm, prompt greetings and escorting patients and visitors to their destinations across the campus
• Information & Communication Management: Managed high-volume phone lines, internal paging, and mail/delivery distribution while providing critical telephone support during emergency situations
• Patient & Visitor Liaison: Acted as a central resource for patients, staff, and vendors by verifying appointment details, answering inquiries, and coordinating outside transportation and lodging requests
• Interdepartmental Collaboration: Promoted organizational efficiency by fostering strong interdepartmental communication and assisting in the orientation of new staff members regarding HIPAA compliance and privacy protocols
• Operational Excellence: Maintained a highly organized and efficient Patient Services Desk, ensuring a superior customer experience through professional, courteous, and accurate service delivery
  
  

Job Requirements

Required

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Accurate and efficient keyboarding skills
• Superior customer service skills and phone etiquette with the ability to relate effectively to a variety of customers in a professional and courteous manner
• Demonstrates the ability to problem solve and work independently in a fast paced environment with constant interruptions
• Must have the ability to communicate and interpret information in terms the patient or visitor can understand
• Maintains strict confidentiality in regard to all information acquired in the course of performing the job
• Able to perform effectively in emergency and stressful situations
  
  

Preferred

• Entry level college courses
• Experience with registration systems, spreadsheet applications and moderate-level experience with 2013 Microsoft Office Suite applications as well as Internet knowledge

$15.00 - $20.12 /hour
