We are seeking a dependable and motivated Grounds Maintenance Technician to join our team in Reddick, Florida. In this role, you will maintain the cleanliness, safety, and visual appeal of assigned outdoor and indoor properties, including landscaped areas, turf, walkways, and surrounding grounds.
Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, with occasional weekend shifts due to onsite classes. Overtime may be available. Schedule is subject to weather and property needs.
Job Responsibilities:
Grounds & Landscaping
- Maintain shrubs, hedges, flower beds, and ornamental plants through pruning and weeding
- Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in compliance with safety regulations
- Mow, edge, and trim lawns using appropriate equipment
- Remove debris, fallen limbs, and invasive vegetation
- Clean and maintain walkways, parking areas, and drainage ditches
Irrigation & Equipment
- Operate and maintain irrigation systems and report any issues
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report maintenance needs
Daily Site Responsibilities
- Water and maintain flower beds around both buildings, ensuring proper drainage and no standing water
- Monitor and refill water dispensers in both buildings daily
- Use blower equipment to clean building entrances each morning
- Maintain cleanliness around buildings, kitchen areas, and dumpsters
Waste & Cleaning Duties
- Perform daily and scheduled trash removal from buildings and outdoor areas
- Assist with additional trash removal and cleanup during class days and campus events
- Maintain cleanliness of common areas, including kitchen spaces and outdoor seating areas
Campus Event & Class Support
- Clean windows, picnic tables, and outdoor decks before class days
- Support ongoing cleaning and trash removal during class sessions
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with livestock-related reminders (e.g., tracking seasonal treatments and supplies)
- Communicate with supervisors regarding safety issues, supply needs, and project status
- Follow OSHA safety standards and company procedures at all times
- Perform other maintenance-related tasks assigned by management
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent experience accepted
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on grounds, landscaping, or maintenance experience
- Familiarity with Florida-specific grasses (St. Augustine, Bahia, Zoysia) and native landscaping preferred
- Familiarity with handling horses preferred.
- Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment including mowers, blowers, trimmers, and hand tools
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequent walking, bending, lifting, and standing
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Valid Florida driver's license required
