What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Director of Strategic Analytics position at CHG Healthcare?
Healthcare’s helping hand.
CHG shook things up in 1979 by inventing the locum tenens staffing model. We connect doctors with patients who need their care. As the largest physician staffing firm in America, our providers treat millions of patients each year.
Our industry is growing and demand is high. This means you’ll have plenty of opportunities to grow and develop in your career. Keeping healthcare healthy can be as fun as it is rewarding
CHG Healthcare is building something that most analytics organizations never attempt: a true internal strategy function with a consulting grade mandate. The Strategic Analytics team will serve as an embedded consulting-style advisory group within our Data & Analytics division, partnering directly with CHG's executive leadership to inform the decisions that shape this company.
This Senior Leader role will be the founding leader of that team. You will build the function from the ground up, define how it operates, and personally lead the most complex and high-visibility work. This is a player-coach role in the truest sense: you will set strategy, develop talent, and still get your hands into the analysis. If you have spent years in consulting or private equity building the skills to turn ambiguous questions into clear decisions, this is the seat where those skills create real, lasting impact inside a growing healthcare company.
Responsibilities
Executive Advisory & Pre-Decision Analysis
Skills & Capabilities
CHG Healthcare offers starting salaries for sales positions in the form of total target compensation (TTC = base commission bonus), which includes base pay, commission, and bonuses. Sales positions receive short-term incentives through commission plans and bonuses. On the other hand, non-sales positions have starting salaries that consist of a base salary and short-term incentives through various bonus plans, which are paid out monthly, quarterly, or annually.
In Return We Offer
CHG Healthcare values a diverse and inclusive workforce. Interested in this role but not a perfect fit? Apply anyway.
We welcome applicants of any race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status and individuals with disabilities as an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. We are an at-will employer.

Responsibilities
Executive Advisory & Pre-Decision Analysis
- Partner directly with CHG's executive team to scope, structure, and deliver pre-decision analytical work before major strategic moves are made.
- Translate ambiguous executive questions into well-formed analytical frameworks and deliver clear recommendations, not just data.
- Lead provider depth and market opportunity analyses that inform expansion decisions, pricing strategy, and competitive positioning.
- Build scenario models, business case analyses, and decision-support packages that allow leadership to evaluate risk and upside before committing.
- Serve as the analytical voice in executive conversations, comfortable presenting findings and defending recommendations under scrutiny.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a small, high-talent advisory team. Quality over quantity; this group is built to punch above its weight.
- Actively invest in the skills development, performance feedback, and career growth of direct reports — coaching the team to operate effectively in a consulting-style advisory model that may be new to them.
- Define the operating model for how the team sources, prioritizes, and executes engagements with executive stakeholders.
- Establish the methodological standards and deliverable formats that make the team's work consistently trustworthy and decision-ready.
- Build the team's reputation internally as the go-to analytical partner for high-stakes decisions.
- Demonstrable ability to develop in Tableau (or close equivalent)
- High proficiency using SQL in a business context (Snowflake is a plus)
- Excellent analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills to evaluate business scenarios
- Sound understanding of BI best practices, relational data models, and reporting techniques
- A passion for learning, innovation, and solving tough problems with a team’s support
- High initiative and a meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey difficult concepts to both technical and non-technical partners
- Strong customer service orientation
- 5-10 years with meaningful time at an MBB, Big 4 strategy practice, or in private equity (operating partner, portco strategy, or deal team).
- Demonstrated history of structuring and delivering pre-decision analysis for executive-level audiences.
- Experience building or leading small, high-output analytical or strategy teams.
- Healthcare industry experience is a plus, not a requirement. What matters is the ability to learn the business quickly and apply analytical rigor to a complex operating model.
- Exposure to healthcare staffing, workforce economics, or locum tenens is a plus.
Skills & Capabilities
- Financial modeling and scenario analysis. You know how to build models that actually get used.
- Structured problem framing. You can take a vague executive question and turn it into a tractable analytical project with a clear scope and timeline.
- Hypothesis-driven approach. You lead with a point of view, structure work around proving or disproving it, and deliver recommendations — not just findings.
- Executive communication. You write and speak clearly, avoid jargon, and can defend a recommendation in a room full of skeptical leaders.
- Data fluency. You know how to work with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) and data querying (SQL, Snowflake) at a minimum, and can direct analysts to build what you need.
- Comfort with ambiguity. This is a new function. The person who thrives here is one who sees that as opportunity, not friction.
- Player-coach. You are not afraid to do the work yourself, and you are not too proud to roll up your sleeves when the team needs it.
- Trusted advisor. You earn credibility through the quality of your thinking, not your title.
- Builder. You are energized by creating things that do not yet exist.
- Intellectually honest. You tell executives what they need to hear, not just what they want to hear.
