- Identifies and selects the instruments and equipment necessary for surgical procedures.
- Scrubs gowns and gloves.
- Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment and medication/solutions needed for procedure.
- Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedure.
- Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
- Helps to drape sterile field.
- Assists the surgeon during the operative procedure.
- Maintains strict aseptic technique, properly maintains sterile instruments and monitors sterile field for possible breaks in sterile technique.
- Prepares sterile dressings.
- Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Assists with room turnover, cleaning, and restocking.
- Ability to identify supplies, instruments and equipment necessary for surgical procedures and their uses
- Ability to maintain strict aseptic environment
- Ability to maintain on call rotation
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to interact respectfully with diverse cultural and socio-economic populations
- Education (must meet all of one of the following):
- High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree and one (1) or more years of healthcare experience
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program within forty-five (45) days of start date
- 14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date
- Sterile Processing or Surgical Technician experience
- Surgical Technician certification
