A Day in the Life of a Center Core Tech

- Maintains an organized, clean and properly labeled Center Core.
- Obtains the case PICK sheets ensuring appropriate signatures; identifies and selects the instruments and supplies necessary for surgical procedures.
- Coordinates with Surgery Scheduling Office Staff.
- Coordinates with SPD as indicated regarding status of cases.
- Scrub or assist in a surgical procedure as directed by the OR Manager or Charge Nurse.
- Collaborates with and assists professional staff as needed.
- Communicate with materials management staff regarding supply needs, PAR levels, back orders, recalls, correct item numbers and any other issues.
- Collaborates with Service Coordinators and SPD regarding instrument needs.
- Deliver needed supplies and instruments to open rooms as needed.
- Knowledge of supplies and instruments for all surgical procedures
- Knowledge of surgical procedures
- Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment in the Center Core work area
- Ability to work schedule that is most beneficial to the OR case load
- Ability to interact respectfully with diverse cultural and socio-economic populations
- High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree
- One (1) or more years' experience in an operating room
- Graduate of Surgical Tech Program
- Two or more years’ experience scrubbing in a Main OR setting
