Cheswick Borough – EMERGENCY SNOW PLOWING / WINTER ROAD MAINTENANCE LABORER

Cheswick Borough is accepting applications for seasonal Winter Road Maintenance Laborer positions. Cheswick is a small, mostly residential community located in northeastern Allegheny County, with approximately 6.81 road miles. The Borough maintains two state roads and consists of several long, steep, hills that require extra care and precaution.

Job Description

The position will responsible for providing Winter Road Maintenance to Cheswick Borough, and includes:

Maintaining all public roads during winter storm events in Cheswick Borough in a safe, quick, and professional manner.

Removes snow from roads and Borough properties using Borough owned trucks with plows and salt spreaders.

Operating heavy-equipment to load salt onto trucks

Installation, removal, and maintenance of plows, salt spreaders, and other winter maintenance equipment

Performance of emergency repairs on heavy-equipment and trucks during winter storm events

These responsibilities may be performed at unpredictable hours, including late-night and early-morning snow events, and on holidays and weekends.

Minimum Requirements

Must be dependable, self-motivated individual

Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed in addition to extended shift / on-call shifts during snow removal operations.

Must have reliable transportation that can permit travel during winter storm events

High School diploma or GED

Previous experience in snow removal

Valid PA Driver’s License

Ability to pass a background check and drug testing

The ability to perform manual labor for extended periods
