Custodian

Summary: The Custodian ensures the smooth efficient operation of his/her assigned building and assists in performing the daily tasks requested by principal and director of building and grounds to the daily operations of the school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: May include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.

· Provides routine cleaning and maintenance of the building including, but not limited to sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and cleaning classrooms, hallways, stairs and/or office space.

· Regulates flow of fuel into automatic furnace, shovels coal into hand fired furnace, or removal of ashes.

· Empties trash and garbage containers.

· Maintains building, performs routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, replacement of air conditioning filters, and other related maintenance activities including maintaining tools and equipment.

· Responsible for outside duties including snow removal, mowing, and necessary landscaping.

· Responsible for the day to day cleaning in his/her assigned buildings.

· Notifies head custodian of concerns and major repairs.

· Should be flexible if needed to work a different shift, over his/her normal scheduled day or weekends as requested by the head custodian.

Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· One to three months related maintenance experience and/or training

· Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)

· Current Pennsylvania Criminal History Report (Act 34)

· Current Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 33)

· Current Federal Criminal History Report (Act 114)

· Valid PA driver’s license.

Physical Demands: Ability to reach above and below the waist
