Chestnut Mountain Ranch is a Christ-centered nonprofit organization located in Morgantown, West Virginia, that takes a whole family approach to restoring and renewing relationships for children and families. Chestnut Mountain Ranch was founded in 2004 and has served hundreds of children and their families.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Controller oversees the Chestnut Mountain Ranch’s daily financial operations by ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of financial transactions, documentation, and reporting. This position plays a vital role in maintaining strong internal controls and stewardship of organizational resources through effective management of cash receipts, cash disbursements, credit card activity, payroll data entry, and vendor relationships. This role manages the role of Payroll & Accounts Payable Manager and helps ensure the integrity of financial records while also managing the monthly reporting and the annual audit process.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative:
· Manage full-time Payroll & Accounts Payable Manager and part-time accounting assistance from front desk personnel.
· Verify that all documentation is organized and easily accessible.
· Attends required staff departmental meetings.
Financial:
· Maintains general ledger including reconciliations, journal entries, monthly reporting/analysis.
· Oversee cash receipts including accounts receivable and collections.
· Oversee employee expense reporting and vendor invoice processing. Approve all new vendors.
· Maintain Fixed Asset records and all transfers, purchases and dispositions.
· Maintain Fund account maintenance, including maintaining Designated Funds report.
· Oversee payroll including approval of new employees, approval of bi-weekly payroll reports for preparation and delivery of payroll direct deposits and reporting, including paying payroll liability accounts and compliance.
· Prepares and files all yearly, quarterly, and monthly payroll tax reports, sales tax reports, and other required reports.
· Interfaces with our certified public accounting firm in completing the annual audit.
· Works collaboratively with CFO in preparing the annual operating budget.
· Manages Chestnut Mountain Ranch accounting systems, ensuring adequate internal controls.
· Assist the Ranch Directors and Staff with financial management of their accounts.
· Manage other duties consistent with role.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting plus three to five years of experience, supervisory skills a plus.
2. Understanding of GAAP required.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication, especially as it relates to financial matters and notes accompanying financial statements for records.
4. Able to use technology well including QuickBooks and a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer
EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Exempt
SALARY: $75,000-$80,000
