We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Farm & Property Caretaker to oversee fencing, grounds maintenance, repairs, and construction projects across our rural property. This role is vital in ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of the farm environment. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive attitude, mechanical aptitude, and hands-on experience in farming and property mainteninence. You will be responsible for maintaining fences, landscape and grounds, performing repairs, and supporting various construction initiatives to keep the property in excellent condition. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in a dynamic environment while contributing to the sustainable operation of a working farm.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain fencing systems to ensure secure boundaries for property perimeter.
- Conduct regular grounds maintenance including mowing, pruning, weed control, planting and landscape upkeep to promote healthy growth and visual appeal.
- Operate heavy equipment such as tractors and other farm machinery safely and efficiently for various tasks.
- Perform routine repairs on farm infrastructure including gates, barns, irrigation systems, and other structures using hand tools and power tools.
- Assist with light construction projects such as help building new structures or modifying existing facilities using light carpentry, or other trades as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and safety inspections to ensure compliance with standards.
Qualifications
- Experience in maintenance or construction projects on a farm or rural property.
- Some mechanical knowledge with hands-on skills in equipment repair and use of power tools.
- Familiarity with farm machinery operation.
- Understanding of farming practices such as irrigation, planting and growing techniques.
