Dental Assistant Job Summary

In this vital role, you will assist dentists during procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the clinic operates smoothly and efficiently. Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing necessary tools and materials promptly.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging) while adhering to infection control standards and radiation safety protocols.
- Manage patient records efficiently using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history of patients to support safe treatment planning, especially in pediatric or medically complex cases.
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions clearly and compassionately.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and maintaining organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, demonstrating familiarity with dental assisting procedures and clinical workflows.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is essential for ensuring patient safety and high-quality care.
- Hands-on experience with dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners is a plus.
- Knowledge of EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic enhances efficiency in managing medical records and documentation processes.
- Understanding of pediatric dentistry principles and experience assisting in pediatric cases is advantageous.
