Who We Are

Chesterfield Treatment Courts is an agency dedicated to helping justice-involved individuals with severe treatment needs through the collaborative efforts of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit, Chesterfield Community Corrections Services, Chesterfield Mental Health and Support Services, the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, the Public Defender’s Office, the Chesterfield Police Department, the Chesterfield Sheriff’s Office, and other stakeholders. We have a collaborative culture founded on partnership, service, and a desire to make a difference in the lives of community members who need assistance in various aspects of their lives. We are seeking a qualified candidate to lead our organization. The ideal candidate for the position is a team player, detail-oriented, and enjoys utilizing interpersonal skills to navigate and build partnerships with a variety of agencies and individuals.

Duties

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the operations of the Chesterfield/Colonial Heights Recovery Court, the Chesterfield Veteran Treatment Docket, and any other specialty docket initiatives of Chesterfield County. Duties include managing the day to day operation of the treatment courts' activities, projects and participant status; overseeing and managing personnel including recruitment, training and supervision; preparing budgets and authorizing and monitoring expenditures; developing successful partnership with multiple county agencies and community agencies to meet common objectives; formulating and implementing policy; identifying needed changes, innovations or problems and making recommendations for procedural or administrative improvements; collecting and disseminating data; monitoring legislation to determine the impact on the specialty dockets; serving as liaison with government agencies, the bar, media and the community. In addition, this position is actively involved in projects, committee work, and initiatives as they pertain to the County's response to substance use disorders. Perform other work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, public administration, or other human services field; master's level or advanced degree in public administration, the justice field preferred; minimum of three years of experience working with criminal justice and substance abuse disorder populations with increasing responsibility and experience in program planning and evaluation for alcohol and drug programs, mental health disorders, social services, or a closely related field, including one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of the principles and practices of management, accounting/budgeting procedures as well as a comprehensive understanding of specialty treatment dockets. Must demonstrate an understanding of addiction treatment, justice practices and the court system. Ability to interpret and resolve problems and issues; ability to negotiate and demonstrate conflict resolution skills; familiarity in grant development and grant writing, research, and report writing. Demonstrated ability to organize, implement and maintain a variety of projects; to learn applicable laws, rules, and policies; to understand legislation, court rules, administrative orders and polices/procedures; to build and maintain effective working relationships among elected officials, county officials, judges, and the legal community; to negotiate impasses or difficult problems and manage diverse, multi-disciplinary teams. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
