Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; two years of experience in moderately difficult clerical accounting duties involving the preparation, processing, and maintenance of detailed accounting/financial records or bookkeeping practices; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in conducting billing research, preferably in an Emergency Medical Services or medical office setting and knowledge of ambulance billing issues preferred. Some knowledge of HIPAA compliance and Medicare and Medicaid are also preferred. Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and develop and maintain effective working relationships with division members, county personnel and the general public. Experience using Microsoft Office 365 applications to perform clerical and billing-related tasks, including data entry, document preparation, and email communication. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.
This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Duties
Assists in reconciling patient care information relative to the billing of ambulance transport and in quality insurance and quality improvement initiatives for billing. Responds to questions and concerns from customers related to billing and related issues. Serves as a liaison to the billing vendor and hospitals for patient demographic and patient care information and assist in ensuring the accuracy of billing and patient information submitted. Assists in data collection and reporting as required by local, state, and federal agencies. Audits payment batches for reconciling deposits and payments. Assists internal and external customers, review and distribute emails. Performs other work as required.

Shift
24-28 hours/week; Monday - Friday; hours may vary to include evenings and weekends for special events or emergency situations.
