Compensation: $20.00 per hour

Schedule: Part-time, 29 hours per week

Job Summary:

The Climate Specialist plays a key role in promoting a safe, structured, and positive school environment by providing enhanced student supervision, supporting behavior intervention strategies, and serving as a leader within the school climate team. This position supports schoolwide culture initiatives, assists with proactive behavior management, and collaborates closely with administrators, teachers, and support staff to improve student engagement and accountability.

This role carries increased responsibility, leadership expectations, and independent decision-making compared to entry-level climate support positions.

Essential Functions:

• Provides proactive supervision of students throughout the school day, including hallways, classrooms, lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal
• Supports implementation of schoolwide behavior expectations, PBIS initiatives, and restorative practices
• Serves as a point of support for students exhibiting repeated or escalated behavioral needs
• Assists administrators with student behavior interventions, documentation, and follow-up actions
• Models positive behavior, professionalism, and accountability for students and peers
• Supports de-escalation of student conflicts and behavioral incidents using approved strategies
• Communicates effectively with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff regarding student climate concerns
• Helps mentor or guide Climate Aides or support staff as assigned
• Contributes to continuous improvement efforts related to school climate, culture, and student engagement
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to all school policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with school-aged youth or in a student support, behavior, or climate role
• Demonstrated ability to manage student behavior effectively and professionally
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in dynamic situations
• Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check Clearance
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
• FBI Criminal Background Clearance

Demonstrated Knowledge of:

• Student behavior management strategies, de-escalation techniques, and intervention supports
• School climate and culture frameworks, including PBIS and restorative practice
• Student Code of Conduct, disciplinary procedures, and confidentiality requirements
• Policies and regulations related to student supervision, safety, and school operations

Demonstrated Ability to:

• Effectively supervise students and respond professionally to behavioral situations
• De-escalate conflict and exercise sound judgment in dynamic school environments
• Communicate clearly and collaborate with students, staff, administrators, and families
• Serve as a positive role model and support schoolwide climate and culture initiative
