Acro Instructor

Job Summary:
The Acro Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality, engaging acrobatics instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels. Through group classes and/or private instruction, the instructor fosters strength, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness in a safe, supportive, and student-centered learning environment. This role may also include preparing students for performances, recitals, or showcases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide group and/or private acro classes appropriate to students’ age and experience level.
  • Teach foundational and advanced acrobatic skills including flexibility, balance, strength, tumbling basics, and transitions.
  • Emphasize proper technique, alignment, conditioning, and safe progressions to prevent injury.
  • Develop structured lesson plans and skill progressions that support student growth and confidence.
  • Prepare students for performances, recitals, or demonstrations as applicable.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback and encouragement to support skill development.
  • Maintain consistent communication with students, families, and program staff regarding progress, expectations, and scheduling.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance and student progress.
  • Attend faculty meetings, performances, and special events when required.

Qualifications:

  • Training and proficiency in acrobatics, tumbling, gymnastics, or acro dance.
  • Prior teaching experience, particularly with children and teens, preferred.
  • Strong understanding of safe spotting techniques and age-appropriate skill progressions.
  • Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience teaching acro within a dance or performing arts program.
  • Knowledge of conditioning, flexibility training, and injury prevention.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience preparing students for performances or competitions.
