Summary Of Position

Performs and assist in preventive and corrective maintenance, on all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other related systems, within the Chester County Intermediate Unit.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Must have at least a high school diploma or GED and appropriate licensing and certification.
• Trade School graduate and/or apprenticeship preferred.
• Certification in either HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing
• Five (5) or more years working in commercial setting (HVAC mechanic, Electrician, Plumber). Experience to include: working with/on and maintaining boilers, commercial grade hot water heaters and generators, commercial dish-washing equipment, welding and braising experience, trouble shooting/maintaining and repairing plumbing and HVAC systems. Candidate will need to possess digital and pneumatic controls experience including working with single and multi-phase electrical, working on main electrical distribution and sub panels, changing out light fixtures, repairing and installing electrical infrastructure.
• Ability to understand and comply with written, and oral instructions.
• Knowledge and understanding of trade codes and regulations.
• Ability to read, understand, and work from blue prints, schematics and diagrams.
  
  

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist and performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all; HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other related systems.
• Makes repairs and alterations to all facilities.
• Remove or assist in removing snow.
• Receives, stores, distributes, and moves furniture, materials and supplies.
• Repairs, installs and maintains any and all other equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the respective supervisor.

• The employee is frequently required to talk and listen.
• The position requires the employee to frequently use repetitive motion of hands and feet, also regular climbing, bending, crawling and reaching overhead. Frequent shoulder reach, regular twisting, squatting and kneeling.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 41-50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move 51-75 pounds and maximum weight of 100 pounds.

This is an essential personnel position which requires meeting deadlines with severe time constraints, interacting with staff and the public, and irregular or extended work hours.

2024-2025 Salary

$33.19 to $34.49 per hour

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 260 days per year
