Welcome to The Chess Emporium, a dedicated scholastic chess teaching company that has proudly been in business for 30 years. Our enduring commitment to fostering the intellectual and personal growth of students through chess has established us as a pillar in the educational community. Over the last three decades, more than 150,000 students have passed through our program, each embarking on a journey of strategic thinking and personal development.
As we continue to grow, we are on the lookout for the next generation of chess instructors—no grandmasters required, just a solid understanding of chess basics. We're seeking enthusiastic individuals eager to illuminate the minds of young chess enthusiasts and share the joy of learning across the Valley. Here's a sample schedule of how your day might look:
- 2:45pm - Check in at Office
- 3:00pm - Class Begins/Lesson
- 3:15pm - Chess Games
- 4:00pm - Parent Pick Up
Qualifications:
- IVP Card approval required (can apply during interview process)
- Available for after-school teaching hours from 2pm to 5pm, Monday through Friday
- Must be able to commit to a minimum of 3-4 days per week
- Reliable transportation needed
- A solid understanding of the chess basics
- Must be located in the Phoenix Metropolitan area
Bonus Qualifications:
- Active Chess.com account with a rating of 1000 or a USCF/Fide rating of 800
- Experience teaching with elementary age children aged 5-12
- 5 minute video teaching a chess topic sent to kids@chessemporium.com
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $50.00 - $95.00 per day
Expected hours: 4 – 8 per week
