TITLE: Instructional Technology Aide

GENERAL SUMMARY
Instructional Technology Aide provides technology instruction to students in grades K–5th as part of the related arts rotation. This position teaches foundational technology skills using iPads, computers, and other digital tools in both classroom and lab settings. Responsibilities include introducing students to age-appropriate digital literacy, keyboarding, internet safety, coding, STEM activities, problem-solving, and educational technology applications. The Computer Lab Teacher collaborates with classroom teachers to support curriculum integration, promotes responsible technology use, and creates engaging learning experiences that enhance students' understanding of technology and prepare them for success in an increasingly digital world.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technology instruction to students in grades K–5 as part of the school's related arts rotation.
- Teach foundational technology skills using iPads, computers, and other digital devices in both computer lab and classroom settings.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote digital literacy, keyboarding, internet safety, coding, computational thinking, and age-appropriate STEM activities.
- Foster students' problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and critical-thinking skills through technology-rich learning experiences.
- Support the integration of technology into the curriculum by collaborating with classroom teachers and staff.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and effective learning environment in the computer lab and technology instructional spaces.
- Monitor, manage, and care for technology equipment and instructional resources used by students.
- Promote responsible digital citizenship and appropriate use of technology.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to support technology skill development.
- Assist with student arrival and dismissal duties as assigned.
- Participate in school activities, meetings, professional development, and faculty responsibilities.
- Support school operations through supervision and other duties as assigned by the principal.
- Perform additional responsibilities consistent with the position as directed by the principal or district administration.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Minimum 2 years of college.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of elementary-aged students' developmental, academic, and social-emotional needs.
- Knowledge of technology integration strategies and best practices for K–5 instruction.
- Understanding of digital literacy, internet safety, digital citizenship, coding, and STEM education concepts.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools, software applications, learning platforms, iPads, Chromebooks, and desktop/laptop computers.
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging, standards-based technology lessons for diverse learners.
- Ability to manage a classroom and maintain a positive, productive learning environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with students, staff, parents, and administrators.
- Ability to collaborate with teachers to support curriculum and technology integration.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues and support students in using technology resources effectively.
- Skill in organizing and maintaining technology equipment, materials, and learning spaces.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the position.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, instructional practices, and district initiatives.
- Ability to perform assigned supervisory duties, including student arrival, dismissal, and other school-related responsibilities.
Skills/Effort:
Skill in the use of general office technology such as iPads, computers, copiers, etc. Good written and verbal communication as well as organization. Ability to interact with co-workers, students and school staff in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to provide assistance to teachers in classroom situations.
Working Conditions:
Conducts duties in an office/school/work environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Physical demands are restricted to office work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
Responsibility:
