Key Responsibilities
Instructional Coaching & Modeling
- Coaching Cycles: Engage in comprehensive coaching cycles, including observation, feedback, modeling, and co-teaching to improve classroom-level instruction.
- Research-Based Practice: Provide direct support in the implementation of the structured literacy block and evidence-based reading strategies rooted in the Science of Reading.
- Differentiated Support: Assist teachers in aligning and differentiating literacy curricula to meet the unique needs of a diverse student population, including those within the language acquisition progression.
- Language Acquisition: Lead the development of student fundamentals in listening, speaking, reading, and writing English; serve as the primary resource for teachers on the language learning process.
- Compliance & Planning: Coordinate and administer the CSDE LAS Links assessment; create and implement ML Student Success Plans to ensure equitable academic access.
- CELP Standards: Guide the integration of Connecticut English Language Proficiency (CELP) standards into core academic instruction.
- Assessment Oversight: Supervise literacy and ML assessment data at the school level, ensuring accurate collection and organization.
- Collaborative Analysis: Facilitate the analysis of student data to identify intervention needs, monitor progress, and inform curriculum modifications.
- Strategic Planning: Lead data-driven decision-making to identify instructional trends and ensure no student falls through the cracks.
- Facilitation: Design and lead workshops, study groups, and building-based meetings focused on literacy and ML instructional practices.
- Collaborative Partnership: Act as a bridge between the classroom and the district, collaborating with the building principal, Curriculum Office, and math/reading specialists.
- Curriculum Development: Assist in developing lesson plans and utilizing technology to facilitate learning across various learning styles.
- Certification: Current Connecticut Elementary Teaching Certificate (Required).
- Specialization: TESOL Certification (Preferred).
- Expertise: Deep understanding of CELP Standards, Structured Literacy, and the language learning process.
- Experience: Proven track record across multiple grade levels and experience facilitating professional learning for adult learners is highly desirable.
- In accordance with the Agreement Between Cheshire Board of Education and the Education Association of Cheshire.
