What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMT/AEMT position at Cheshire County EMS?
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) function as a primary care provider in the pre-hospital setting. An EMT/AEMT assesses and stabilizes patients utilizing Basic Life Support (BLS) skills and Advanced Life Support skills (BLS) and responds to emergent and non-emergent calls as directed by the Communications Center. In this position, the EMT provides safe, time- bound transportation for patients to the appropriate, designated hospital, care-facility or residence. The EMT/AEMT will communicate with licensed and ancillary medical professionals in verbal and written format. The EMT/AEMT will be required to drive and work in extreme weather conditions during all of hours the day and in often challenging traffic conditions. The duties of the position include: the provision of patient care within the scope of training for which the EMT is employed, the completion of required documentation, the inspection of equipment required for safe patient movement, and the performance of general vehicle maintenance.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL
Must be 18 years of age
CURRENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Valid driver’s license from state of residence
Current State EMT or AEMT Certification in the state for which you are working
Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR Certification
