Job Summary

Chesapeake Testing & Balancing Engineers, Inc. is seeking a motivated HVAC Test & Balance Technician to join our growing team. We specialize in Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) of commercial HVAC systems and are looking for someone who takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work.

This position is ideal for someone with 1–2 years of HVAC experience who is looking to build a long-term career in the TAB industry. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in a variety of commercial, healthcare, educational, and government facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) procedures on commercial HVAC systems to verify proper operation and performance.
  • Measure airflow, temperatures, pressures, and other system parameters using specialized testing equipment.
  • Adjust and calibrate HVAC equipment and controls to achieve specified airflow and temperature requirements.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
  • Document test results, system adjustments, and field observations using Microsoft Excel and other computer-based reporting software.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC system performance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain company tools, testing instruments, and vehicles in good working order.
  • Follow all company safety policies and job site requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of HVAC experience required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of commercial HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and comfortable using computers for data entry and report preparation.
  • Experience using airflow hoods, manometers, pressure gauges, VelGrids, or similar HVAC testing equipment is preferred.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be flexible with work hours, including overtime, evenings, and occasional weekends as project schedules require.
  • Must be willing to travel to various project locations, which may change frequently.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be willing to comply with client-specific requirements, including vaccinations or other health screening requirements for hospitals, laboratories, government facilities, and other secure job sites.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively while working on customer sites.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday
  • Night work as needed
  • Overtime available
  • Weekend work as needed

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
