What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at Chesapeake Nurseries?
Responsibilities:
- Safety is Chesapeake Nurseries top priority. As a Supervisor it is essential to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Work Closely with the Farm Manager to oversee all aspects of daily operations including planting, propagation, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and harvesting.
- Manage and motivate a team of production workers. This includes assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring productivity and quality standards are consistently met.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure plants meet our standards for health, size, and appearance.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a nursery or similar agricultural setting.
- Degree or certification in Horticulture, Agriculture, or related field preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Strong understanding of plant care, propagation techniques, irrigation systems, and pest management.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
