Chesapeake Classic Restorations is hiring a skilled Metal Fabricator to join our growing team.
We specialize in classic vehicle restoration, restomods, custom builds, and high-quality automotive craftsmanship. This position is ideal for someone who understands that metal work on classic vehicles requires precision, patience, problem-solving, and pride in doing things the right way.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with automotive metal repair, fabrication, welding, panel replacement, rust repair, and custom metal work. We are looking for someone who can take a damaged, aged, or incomplete section of a vehicle and help bring it back to life with quality craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Perform metal fabrication on classic vehicles, restoration projects, and custom builds
- Repair, replace, and fabricate vehicle panels and structural components
- Complete rust repair, patch panels, floor pans, quarter panels, rocker panels, and related metal work
- Weld, grind, shape, and finish metal components as needed
- Assist with custom fabrication for restomod and specialty vehicle projects
- Fit and align panels to ensure proper gaps, body lines, and overall vehicle structure
- Work closely with the paint, body, mechanical, upholstery, and assembly teams
- Identify problem areas and communicate recommended repair solutions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Take pride in producing high-quality work that meets Chesapeake Classic Restorations’ standards
Qualifications
- Previous metal fabrication or automotive welding experience required
- Experience with classic vehicles, restorations, custom builds, or hot rods preferred
- Strong understanding of welding, cutting, grinding, shaping, and panel repair
- Ability to fabricate, fit, and finish metal components with attention to detail
- Ability to read, understand, and execute project direction
- Strong problem-solving skills and patience with custom restoration work
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Dependable, motivated, and willing to take ownership of assigned work
- Must have a positive attitude and respect for the restoration process
- Preferred Experience
- Classic vehicle restoration
- Rust repair and panel replacement
- MIG and TIG welding
- Sheet metal fabrication
- Floor pans, rocker panels, quarter panels, and patch panel work
- Custom brackets, mounts, and structural fabrication
- Experience working in a restoration or custom automotive shop environment
