Welcome to Cherry Health - video about Cherry Health Schedule: 32 hours per week; 7:30am - 4pm Monday - Friday Location: School Based Health Centers (Innovation Central HS, Union HS, Ottawa Hills HS) Responsible for performing all tasks as a dental hygienist in a preventative and maintenance dental program. Registered Dental Hygienists work under the PA-161 program. The PA 161 program is a Public Dental Prevention Program that allows for preventative treatment with minimal dentist oversight. Must adhere to the organizational Policies, Procedures, Code of Ethics, and all licensing and accreditation standards of the position. Must represent the organization’s Mission in all actions and communications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Clean and polish teeth, remove calculus deposits, and stains from teeth and beneath gums, applies topical fluoride treatments. Chart existing conditions in the mouth including possible areas of dental decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist. Apply pit and fissure sealants as approved by dentist. Expose and mount dental radiographs Educate patients in proper oral hygiene techniques for plaque removal. Record information in the patient’s electronic record. Initiate on going patient recall system for maintenance of teeth. Utilize Nitrous and local anesthetic when directed by dentist. Organize, clean and sterilize dental tools. Test water lines for bacterial count. Sharpen instruments. Assist dentist as directed. Understand and adhere to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state and company regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified. Other duties as assigned SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: Basic Life Support/CPR training according to requirements of license and/or certification. Ability to perform routine dental laboratory and dental patient care tasks. Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, public and patients. Tact and similar qualities necessary in meeting and dealing effectively with others, in person and on the telephone. Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required. Ability to identify and maintain agency and client confidential information. Ability to work with patients and staff of other cultures. May be required to translate. Creative thinking and problem solving. Ability to occasionally travel to any Cherry Health site and related locations. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: One year experience working in a dental practice preferred.
