What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook position at Cherry Republic Career Center?
Summary of the Position:
Cherry Republic’s Line Cook supports the Kitchen Supervisor and is responsible for the preparation of food before and after cooking with regard to the operational standards and recipes of the Public House Back of the House.
Main Responsibilities:
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies.
- Prepare a variety of foods, meat, poultry, vegetables, and other hot food items.
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
- Cover, date, and correctly store all pieces and food prep items.
- Use food preparation tools in accordance with safety regulations.
- Returns dirty food preparation utensils to the appropriate areas.
- Always maintain a prepared and sanitary work area.
- Constantly use safe and hygienic food handling practices.
- Open / Close the kitchen correctly and follow the checklist for kitchen stations.
- Answer, report, and follow the Culinary Manager’s instructions.
Necessary Skills:
- Dedication to quality: inspect and test food prior to serving.
- In-depth knowledge of food processing and safety.
- Multitasking: the ability to handle multiple tickets.
- Able to adhere to the precise instructions of the Culinary Manager.
- Time management: ability to prioritize tasks.
- Promote and maintain a safe and clean station.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
There are no direct supervisory responsibilities in this position.

- Education and/or Experience- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. At least 1 year of previous food experience is preferred.
- Language Skills- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret recipes.
- Mathematical Skills- Ability to calculate figures and amounts when analyzing data.
- Reasoning Ability- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to communicate issues accurately and thoroughly to all individuals involved.
