Role: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse responsible for monitoring patients requiring close assessment but not in need of ICU care.
Responsibilities: Monitor and assess non-ICU patients, utilize monitoring equipment to detect changes in vital signs, and intervene in emergency situations. Provide care for patients receiving complex medications requiring titration. The role may also be referred to as step-down, cardiac, neuro, surgical, or ER holding nurse.
Qualifications: Active RN license, graduation from an accredited nursing program, BLS & ACLS certifications, and at least 18 months of recent experience in an acute care PCU/Step-down setting.
Skills: Critical monitoring, assessment, emergency intervention, medication management, and proficiency with monitoring equipment.
