Overview Of Position

This position is responsible for the overseeing optical operations, training of opticians and working in a team environment to ensure the highest quality of care.

Must adhere to the organizational Policies, Procedures, Code of Ethics, and all licensing and accreditation standards of the position. Must represent the organization’s Mission in all actions and communications.

This is a full time, benefit eligible position typically working onsite at our Heart of the City Health Center Monday - Friday 8am-5pm.

ABO-C certification required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Support Cherry Health’s mission & vision.
  • Model and communicate Cherry Health’s key values.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, customer service & patient satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills.
  • Demonstrate mastery of daily optical retail operations.
  • Oversee optical staffing and operations.
  • Monitor optician/retail productivity.
  • Schedule staff hours of work and assignments to ensure efficient operation.
  • Approve staff timecards and paid time off.
  • Support optical staff on optical floor 16-24 hours/week as assigned.
  • Direct, supervise, train, and evaluate optician core competencies.
  • Address performance issues consistently, promptly, and appropriately in collaboration with vision services manager and human resources.
  • Maintain ABOC certification, have thorough understanding of optician certification process & assist in the educational training of opticians pursuing certification.
  • Participate in staff meetings to communicate organization initiatives and updates.
  • Participate in developing policies and assure that they are adhered to.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of department/program budget.
  • Maintain budget by seeking cost-effective alternative products and services.
  • Ensure accurate billing practices.
  • Understand and adhere to special program funds.
  • Monitor and approve payroll deduct for employee orders.
  • Collaborate with front desk supervisor to ensure that payments collected are reconciled and processed daily.
  • Effectively work with staff and patients to resolve patient complaints.
  • Accurately enter new inventory in optical management system.
  • Complete frame inventory at least quarterly or more frequently for accuracy.
  • Oversee frame board management, organization and purchasing of frames.
  • Regularly meet the optical venders.
  • Collaborate with the vision services manager and director of school programs to ensure efficient and quality optical services within school vision services.
  • Understand and adhere to CH’s compliance standards as they appear in CH’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state and CH’s regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Licenses / Certificates

High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in ABOC and CPR.
