JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Neurodiverse Student Services, provide support to schools to develop and implement a comprehensive and challenging program to enrich, extend, and accelerate the learning of gifted and twice exceptional students. Collaborates with other District-level departments to ensure access and opportunity to rigorous courses and programming.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. They do not encompass a comprehensive inventory of the obligations and responsibilities fulfilled in this role. The approximation of frequencies and time allocation percentages are flexible and subject to the requirements of the organization. Job Task Descriptions Frequency Percentage of Time 1. Support schools, educational leaders, and teachers in the assessment, identification, and programming of gifted and talented learners. Daily 15% 2. Observe students and collaborate with teachers to provide feedback and instructional strategy support. Daily 10% 3. Meet regularly with school-based teacher of neurodiverse students and general education gifted cluster teachers to assist in the coordination and improvement of gifted student engagement as well as academic achievement and personal growth. Daily 10% 4. Meet regularly with educational leaders and teachers to ensure designated gifted program models are equitable and accessible as well as being consistent with best practices and district expectations/guidance. Daily 10% 5. Regularly support training for building-level teachers and specialists and provide support for teachers on instructional best practices in supporting gifted and talented learners, curriculum changes, resource alignment, and data analysis. Daily 10% 6. Co-plan and Co-facilitate department led professional development offerings as well as parent meetings/workshops. Weekly 10% 7. Keep abreast of current research and state/national information regarding gifted learners to lead the department and district in best practice and the creation of products that clearly communicate to key stakeholders. Weekly 5% 8. Support the district’s Acceleration and Challenge School admission processes and attend all planning and parent meetings associated with said processes. Weekly 5% 9. Support the organization, implementation, and refinement of district-level programs designed to support the enrichment of gifted and talented students including, but not limited to, Inside Out, Destination Imagination, Chess Club, and Spelling Bee. Monthly 10% 10. Support teachers of neurodiverse students in the development of Advanced Learning Plans and ensure that student progress is evaluated and communicated on a consistent, systematic basis and that findings are used for improvement. Quarterly 5% 11. Support the Early Access process and program including participation in all parent meetings as well as the creation and monitoring of Early Access Advanced Learning Plans. - Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
- Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, or similar field
- Five (5) years of professional work experience
- Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license
- CDE Gifted Education Core (grades PreK-12) endorsement, CDE Gifted Education Specialist (grades PreK-12) endorsement, or five (5) years of teaching gifted education
- Demonstrated ability to work with teachers and building principals in creating and designing delivery models for advanced, gifted, and talented learners
- Knowledge of the identification and screening process for placement into the gifted and talented program
- Knowledge of the Cherry Creek School District policies and Colorado Exceptional Children’s Act
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Strong instructional knowledge of teaching methods, learning styles, and educational research related to gifted, talented, and twice-exceptional learners
- Knowledge of standards-based education, Professional Learning Communities, Culturally Responsive Education, Innovation, and implications for best practice
- Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated presentation skills in a variety of settings
- Light work strength level (lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds)
- Primarily works indoors
- Typically a moderate noise level

- Master’s degree in education, psychology, social work, or similar field
- Experience working in the public sector
