Cherry County Justice Center has openings for a 911 Telecommunicator/Emergency Dispatcher and is seeking motivated, dependable individuals to fill the positions. There is 1 full-time position and 1 part-time position available.
Starting wage $20.00-$24.50/hr., negotiable depending on experience/training; full benefits and retirement available for full-time employees.
Qualifications:
U.S. Citizen, High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate, minimum 19 years of age, must successfully complete an oral interview, extensive background and criminal history investigations, medical examination, drug testing, psychological examination, truth verification examination and must be able to complete certification by the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center. A dispatcher must also read, write and speak the English language with higher than average proficiency and possess or be able to possess a Nebraska driver’s license. The ability to read, write and speak Spanish and/or Lakota will be considered an added benefit.
Job Description:
911 Telecommunicators effectively provide the community with the highest quality of service by ensuring safe and efficient receipt, screening, and processing of emergency telephone calls and other notifications requiring both emergency and non-emergency response by law enforcement, fire or rescue personnel. They provide constant surveillance of all inner workings of the county jail including inmates and corrections staff. Maintain a plethora of logs, forms, messages, reports and records pertinent to numerous agencies within the city, county and state. Monitor and maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, inmates and the public.
Starting wage $20.00-$24.50/hour, negotiable depending on experience/training; full benefits, retirement, sick/vacation/holiday pay available to full-time employees.
