Position Summary
A private equity-backed organization is seeking a senior-level Interim Controller / Transaction Readiness Consultant to support the finance function during a critical transition period. This role is highly strategic in nature, focused on maintaining transaction readiness, supporting private equity reporting requirements, and bridging leadership coverage during a pending controller transition.
The organization is preparing for a potential liquidity event within the next several months and has completed sell-side preparation work in 2024. The current Controller is departing so the CFO requires an experienced consultant to ensure he has experienced support for the next such effort. This is not a traditional hands-on accounting role, but rather a high-impact position centered on transaction preparedness, Quality of Earnings (QoE) coordination, and executive-level finance support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate internal Quality of Earnings (QoE) readiness efforts
- Partner with executive leadership to ensure continuous transaction readiness
- Support debt covenant compliance and lender reporting requirements
- Identify and proactively address gaps in reporting, data integrity, or diligence readiness
- Provide continuity during the transition of the Controller role
- Assist the CFO with other analyses and duties as required
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience
- Prior experience in private equity-backed environments
- Strong exposure to sell-side readiness and QoE processes
- Familiarity with debt compliance and covenant reporting
- NetSuite experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting and financial reporting
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment
- Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management skills
Preferred Background
- Former Controller, VP Finance, or Finance Director
- Background in public accounting or advisory (Big 4 or national firm preferred)
- Exposure to M&A transactions
