Interim Controller
Location: Glen Allen, VA / Richmond Area | Hybrid
Pay Rate: $90–$110/hour
Engagement: Contract, approximately 2–3 months
Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to support a complex, multi-entity organization during a leadership transition and upcoming audit period. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an accomplished accounting professional who can quickly step in, provide stability to the accounting function, and oversee day-to-day financial operations. The role will partner closely with the CFO and cross-functional leaders and will be responsible for accounting operations, financial close, multi-entity consolidations, reporting, internal controls, and audit support.
Responsibilities
- Support the CFO during month-end financial reviews
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations across a complex, multi-entity environment
- Manage and oversee month-end close activities
- Provide leadership to 9 accountants and broader oversight across a 15-person accounting department
- Oversee Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Manage multi-entity consolidations and related reporting
- Maintain strong accounting policies and internal controls
- Provide technical accounting leadership and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Support external audit activities and coordinate with auditors
- Partner with FP&A/Financial Reporting, Treasury, Tax, Legal, operational leaders, corporate accounting, and systems teams
Qualifications
- Significant Controller-level or senior accounting leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition and ASC 326 credit-loss reserving
- Experience managing complex accounting operations and multi-entity environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage accounting teams
- Strong ERP experience; NetSuite experience is a plus
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Manufacturing, assembly, inventory, or job-costing knowledge is beneficial but not required
- Ability to work onsite in the Glen Allen/Richmond area approximately 2-3 days per week
- Ability to be onsite full-time during the upcoming audit period
