Job Summary:
Implements, monitors, and supports servers and storage environments and provides operational application support. Provides server and desktop technology support, including operating system maintenance, application maintenance and ensures systems adhere to user access, configuration, and maintenance policies. Works very closely with other technical personnel to coordinate the implementation and ongoing support of systems. Monitors and diagnoses server and storage devices, provides support for incidents which cannot be resolved by the help desk or hardware technicians, and coordinates installation of new equipment for projects.
Job Duties:
Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and the United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act. Active Directory management – Add, delete, modify user and workstation accounts, and configures and maintains group policies. Configures and maintains storage systems across the organization. Configures and maintains the virtual environment for the organization and provides redundancy and backup and recovery plans for the virtual environment. Monitors system performance and security logs, by taking steps to ensure acceptable security and performance is maintained. Administers changes to server hardware and software. Documents systems configurations using a change log and adheres to change management policies. Reviews computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program or program changes is possible within existing system. Prepares time and cost estimates for completing projects. Installs and supports server and desktop technologies including operating system maintenance and application maintenance. Provides operational applications support. Provides support services to monitor, backup, and diagnose servers and storage equipment; recommends corrective action to failing server and desktop equipment. Provides on-call support (24x7) to assist with troubleshooting, escalation, or recovery of failing equipment. Supports and coordinates installation of server and desktop technology for new projects and participates, as needed, in technical implementation projects. Develops, creates, and maintains procedures for equipment installation and configuration support. Works closely with technical personnel to coordinate the implementation and ongoing support of systems. Coordinates sharing of best practices and policies and procedures. Participates in activities which improve departmental and organizational performance. Interfaces directly with a wide variety of end users and technical counterparts in other division and facility roles. Conducts in-service trainings to helpdesk, hardware technicians, systems analysts, and other technical personnel. Adheres to and supports Cherokee Nation standards, policies, and procedures. Maintains and protects confidentiality with regard to all aspects of patient care. Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university in Information Technology; or six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
An additional three (3) years experience in a related field.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should have knowledge of Database, Design, Development, Internet, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Microsoft Terminal Services, Microsoft Windows Operating systems, Microsoft Windows Clustering Services, Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, and virtual environments.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Demonstrated participation in technical projects. Experience with virtualization, VDI, and Microsoft Remote Desktop methodologies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
