Senior Project Manager Responsibilities Include
Project & Field Engineering
- Support execution of aviation weather system installations (AWOS-C, etc.).
- Assist in planning and execution of airport construction and infrastructure upgrades.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
- Provide on-site engineering support during construction and system installation.
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and field crews.
- Plan and coordinate logistics for remote Alaska sites (air transport, barging, staging).
- Support mobilization/demobilization of crews, materials, and equipment.
- Work in bush environments with limited infrastructure and resources.
- Ensure projects are executed efficiently despite weather and access constraints.
- Support installation of electrical systems, conduit, and cabling.
- Assist in design and implementation of grounding and bonding systems.
- Verify installations meet applicable codes, FAA standards, and project specs.
- Troubleshoot electrical and system integration issues in the field.
- Assist with site layout, trenching coordination, and equipment installation.
- Support construction of fiberglass shelters and equipment pads.
- Ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications.
- Track progress, document field changes, and support as-built documentation.
- Promote and enforce safety standards in remote and high-risk environments.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or related) or equivalent field experience.
- 3–8 years of experience in construction, field engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience with electrical systems, grounding, and equipment installation.
- Ability to work in remote, austere, and extreme weather environments.
- Strong problem-solving and field decision-making skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout Alaska (including bush locations).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with aviation systems, FAA projects, or airport construction.
- Familiarity with weather system installations (AWOS/ASOS, sensors, towers).
- Knowledge of remote logistics in Alaska (bush flying, barging, seasonal access).
- Experience with government contracts (FAA, DoD, or similar).
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
