Position Summary: Provides the Election Administrator with technical voter registration assistance and perform duties associated with conducting elections.

Essential Functions of the Job

· Provide staff and citizens with voter answers based upon most recent laws and updates published in Texas Election Law

· Be the liaison to Secretary of State for questions and other services provided by the State

· Determine voter eligibility by checking records including DPS, State, and felony records and the Voter Registration System

· Ensure voter registration applications are researched, input, and kept current in TEAMS (Texas Election Administration Management System) and issue Voter Registration Certificate cards.

· Resolve street issues through research in CAD and adherence to the 911 addressing database.

· Ensure voter documentation is scanned into system, and maintenance of voter records

· Coordinate with staff members and assist with workload

· Prior to early voting and election day, ensure electronic equipment and other materials are prepared for each polling location

· Assist in programing election equipment

· After elections, receive voter lists and manually input, or scan data from Poll pads, into TEAM system to update voter history

· Prepare post-election data, create and print post-election reports

· Provide voter data as requested through Open Records Requests

· Prepare all voter reports required by Secretary of State

· Additional duties as directed by supervisor

Work Environment

· Work conducted in office setting and polling stations.

· Required to work weekends and extended hours on weekdays during elections, as needed.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to remain upright for extended periods of time.

· Ability to move up to 30 pounds repetitively

Recommended Minimum Qualifications

· High school diploma, GED or equivalent

· Two (2) years of general clerical experience is preferred

· In accordance with Election Code Section 12.006(e), applicants are not required to be a registered voter, but must meet the requirements to be a qualified voter: 18 years of age or older; a United States citizen; has not been determined by a final judgment to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote; has not been finally convicted of a felony or, if so convicted, has been fully discharged of the person's sentence, including any term of incarceration, parole, or supervision, or completed a period of probation ordered by any court, or been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability to vote; and is a resident of Texas.

· Computer literacy

· Keyboarding minimum speed of 35 wpm

· Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel software

· Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with elected officials, other departments, election judges, and voters in answering questions concerning technical voter issues, polling places, voter status, and equipment troubleshooting
