Head Boys Basketball Coach (2026-2027)
Location: Blacksburg Middle School Pay: Supplemental
SUMMARY: The Head Coach is responsible for initiating various aspects of the Basketball Program, such as recruiting within the school, training, and coaching the members of the Basketball program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist the varsity head coach in coordination of the development and promotion of the Basketball program
• Assumes responsibility for checking all practice areas each day and removes hazardous objects from the practice area.
• Develops a positive public relations program in the school and the community.
• Makes recommendations to the athletic director for purchasing equipment.
• Provides supervision in the locker rooms before and after practice and games
• The coach will at all times conduct themselves in a manner that will set a good example for students to follow on and off the court.
• Effectively communicate with the athletic director, parents, players, and administrators.
• Maintain and secure all Basketball equipment and uniforms.
• Responsible for the performance of other related duties as assigned/required by the Athletic Director, Principal, and Varsity Head Coach.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Prior successful coaching experience at the middle school or high school level.
• First Aid and CPR certification is required for coaching.
• Committed to mentoring and working effectively with the school administration to build a top-notch feeder program.
• A proven track record with age appropriate skill and program development is preferred.
• Knowledge of South Carolina High School League rules and regulations
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
• Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board policies.
• Relates well with students and other middle school programs to promote school and community spirit.
• Employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being and work output of students and coaches.

FLSA: NON EXEMPT
Salary: Supplemental based on District Athletic Scale
