Position: Assistant Cook
Part Time | Monday-Friday | 7:00am- 12:00pm | 25 hours/week
Starting Pay: $11.30/hour with review and raise after 30 days OR $12/hour with valid ServSafe certification with review and raise after 30 days

Cherokee County Meals On Wheels is looking for a dedicated Assistant Cook to join our kitchen team! This is more than just a cooking job- it's an opportunity to serve your community by helping prepare hot, nutritious meals for seniors and homebound individuals who depend on us.
***This job is heavily focused on directing and supervising volunteers who work alongside our kitchen staff. We want to maintain an environment where they want to come and that they will feel useful and part of our team. Part of the interview process is coming in to volunteer to see this in action. What You'll Do:
- Work closely with the Lead Cook and Director of Kitchen Operations to prepare meals safely and efficiently.
- Help manage a clean, organized and DHEC-compliant kitchen.
- Support and guide volunteers who assist with food prep and kitchen tasks.
- Assist with daily operations like: starting food service at 8:25 am, monitoring and documenting food temps, labeling and storing unused food properly, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment and areas, preparing items for the next day's meals

- a person with a heart for service and a passion for feeding those in need
- ServSafe certification (or if not certified, we will help with this opportunity)
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds, operate kitchen equipment, and maintain and professional and positive attitude
