Job Overview
Cherokee Country Club, one of Knoxville’s premier private clubs, is seeking a
talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join our distinguished culinary team.
The Pastry Chef will be responsible for creating exceptional pastries,
desserts, breads, and specialty items for our restaurants, catering services,
and member events. This role requires creativity, technical expertise, and
attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining the high culinary
standards that our members expect.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a wide range of pastries, cakes, breads, and plated desserts according to established recipes and standards.
- Decorate cakes and pastries with creativity and precision, ensuring presentation meets the expectations of a premier private club.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team on menu planning for seasonal offerings, weddings, banquets, and member events.
- Experiment with new recipes, flavors, and techniques to enhance the pastry and dessert program.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and efficiency in the pastry kitchen while adhering to health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels of baking supplies, assist in purchasing, and ensure proper stock rotation.
- Package and present items for buffets, retail, and takeaway, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Assist in training and mentoring pastry cooks or support staff as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the broader culinary team to ensure timely service and seamless operations for both daily dining and large-scale events.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Pastry Cook, or Baker in a professional culinary environment, preferably in fine dining, hotels, or private clubs.
- Strong decorating and presentation skills with an eye for detail and artistry.
- Knowledge of classical and modern pastry techniques, breads, and plated dessert preparation.
- Culinary or pastry degree/certification is required.
- Excellent knife skills and familiarity with professional baking equipment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced kitchen.
- A passion for pastry arts, innovation, and exceeding guest expectations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
